Yukon Nominee Program (YNP)

The Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) is designed to attract skilled workers, business entrepreneurs, and other eligible candidates to live and work in the Yukon. This program allows the territory to nominate individuals for Canadian permanent residency based on its specific labor market and economic needs.

Categories Under YNP

1. Skilled Worker Program

  • For skilled workers with a valid job offer from an employer in Yukon.
  • The job must fall under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the NOC.
  • Applicants must meet education, experience, and language proficiency requirements.

2. Critical Impact Worker Program

  • Aimed at addressing shortages in semi-skilled and low-skilled occupations in Yukon.
  • Jobs in TEER 4 or 5 of the NOC are eligible.
  • Applicants must work for at least six months with their Yukon employer before applying.

3. Yukon Express Entry (YEE)

  • Aligned with the federal Express Entry system for faster processing of applications.
  • Applicants must have an active Express Entry profile.
  • Candidates need a valid job offer from a Yukon employer in a skilled position.

4. Business Nominee Program

  • Designed for experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals who want to start or invest in a business in Yukon.
  • Applicants must demonstrate their ability to contribute to Yukon’s economy and create local jobs.
  • A minimum investment of:
    • CAD $300,000 in a Yukon-based business.
  • A minimum net worth of:
    • CAD $500,000, with at least CAD $300,000 in liquid assets.

5. Yukon Community Pilot Program (YCP)

  • Designed for individuals with job offers from multiple employers in specific Yukon communities.
  • Applicants can work for two or three different employers, provided they meet minimum work hours.
  • Communities include Whitehorse, Dawson City, Watson Lake, and others.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Valid Job Offer: Most streams require a job offer from a Yukon employer that meets labor market needs.
  • Work Experience: Relevant work experience in the offered position or field.
  • Language Proficiency: Meet the language requirements (English or French) based on the job’s NOC level.
  • Education: Sufficient education credentials to perform the job.
  • Intention to Reside in Yukon: Applicants must show their intention to live and work in Yukon.
  • Financial Stability: Ability to support yourself and your family during the initial settlement period.
