What is the Federal Skilled Worker Program?
The FSWP is part of Canada's Express Entry system and is designed for individuals with the skills, education, and work experience needed to contribute to Canada’s economy.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify under the FSWP, you must meet the following requirements:
- Work Experience: At least 1 year of continuous, full-time, or equivalent part-time paid work experience in a skilled occupation (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3) within the last 10 years.
- Language Proficiency: Achieve a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 7 in English or French, proven by an approved language test (e.g., IELTS or TEF).
- Education: Hold an educational credential equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma or higher, validated by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
- Selection Grid: Score at least 67 out of 100 points on the FSWP selection grid, which evaluates factors like age, education, work experience, language skills, adaptability, and job offers.
- Proof of Funds: Demonstrate sufficient funds to support yourself and your family unless you have a valid job offer or are already authorized to work in Canada.
- Admissibility: Pass medical and security checks to ensure you’re admissible to Canada.
Selection Factors
Applicants are evaluated on six factors to determine their eligibility:
- Language Skills: Maximum 28 points.
- Education: Maximum 25 points.
- Work Experience: Maximum 15 points.
- Age: Maximum 12 points.
- Arranged Employment: Maximum 10 points.
- Adaptability: Maximum 10 points.
