Express Entry
Express Entry may be a selection system the Canadian government implemented to expedite the choice and application process for various Economic Immigration Programs. it’s predominantly an electronic process with online submissions which allows for quicker processing times, averaging around 6 months.
The following programs are processed by Express Entry:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)
- Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
Eligibility to apply under Express Entry
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- At least 1 year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time skilled work experience in the past 10 years.
- Minimum language proficiency in English or French (CLB 7 or higher).
- Educational qualifications equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma or higher.
- Proof of settlement funds (unless you’re already working in Canada).
- Score at least 67 points out of 100 on the FSWP selection grid.
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- At least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the last 5 years.
- Valid job offer from a Canadian employer for at least 1 year OR a certificate of qualification in your trade from a Canadian authority.
- Minimum language proficiency in English or French (CLB 5 for speaking and listening, CLB 4 for reading and writing).
- Proof of settlement funds (unless you’re already working in Canada).
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- At least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada within the last 3 years.
- Minimum language proficiency in English or French:
- CLB 7 for NOC TEER 0 or 1 occupations.
- CLB 5 for NOC TEER 2 or 3 occupations.
- No proof of settlement funds required for CEC applicants.
Additional Requirements
- Medical Examination: You must undergo a medical exam to prove good health.
- Police Clearance: Provide police certificates to show no serious criminal record.
- Proof of Funds: Demonstrate sufficient funds to support yourself and your family unless you have a valid job offer or are applying under CEC.
