    • For workers in semi-skilled or unskilled positions (TEER 4 or 5) facing labor shortages in the NWT.
    • Requires six months of full-time work with the employer before application.
  • Entry-Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations
    • Specific to jobs that play a critical role in maintaining the NWT's economy.

2. Business Stream

  • Designed for entrepreneurs and business owners who want to establish or purchase a business in the Northwest Territories.
  • Applicants must submit a detailed business plan and make a significant investment depending on the business's location:
    • Minimum investment of $300,000 for businesses in Yellowknife.
    • Minimum investment of $150,000 for businesses outside Yellowknife.
  • Net worth requirements:
    • $500,000 for businesses in Yellowknife.
    • $250,000 for businesses outside Yellowknife.

3. Northwest Territories Express Entry Stream

  • Linked to the federal Express Entry system for faster processing.
  • Applicants must have a valid Express Entry profile and a job offer in a skilled occupation from an NWT employer.
  • The employer must demonstrate efforts to recruit locally or nationally before offering the position to a foreign worker.

General Eligibility Requirements

  • Intention to live in NWT: Applicants must intend to reside permanently in the Northwest Territories.
  • Job Offer: Most streams require a valid job offer from an NWT employer.
  • Work Experience: Meet the required work experience for the position being nominated.
  • Language Proficiency: English or French proficiency as per the stream requirements.
  • Settlement Funds: Demonstrate sufficient funds to settle in the Northwest Territories (where applicable).
